Committed is what you owe once a contract is signed. Paid is what has left your account. The gap between them is the money you still need to find, and it is the single most useful figure in the whole plan.

Track every expense against a category and a supplier. When a vendor changes, you want to see exactly which line items move with them rather than reconstructing it from email.

Set the budget as a ceiling, not a target. A planner that warns you at the moment you cross it is worth more than one that produces a beautiful report afterwards.

In this template, committed spend, paid spend and remaining budget are all derived from the same expense records. There is no separate summary to fall out of date.
